Springfield Local Health Office

The Springfield Local Health Office is the face of public health in our community. Our staff members are based in the towns they serve in Southern Windsor and Northern Windham Counties. We work with schools, worksites, coalitions, not-for-profit organizations, early childhood and health care providers and many others locally to promote health, prevent disease and prepare for emergencies. We help families and residents thrive through improved nutrition, immunization rates, health education and referrals to community resources. We invite you to learn about the many ways we can work together for a healthier community.

Chronic Disease Prevention

We work with community organizations, municipal and regional planners, schools and health care providers. We begin with conversations to learn what is important to our community. From there, we find ways to weave in health and wellness improvements that fit the priorities of our towns.

Emergency Preparedness

The Springfield Local Health Office works with local partners to prepare, respond and recover from public health emergencies. We provide support and participate in hospital preparedness with our local hospitals, Springfield Hospital and Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, and help exercise hospital plans. We work with local, state and federal partners to make sure we are prepared to distribute medicine, supplies and information to residents of Lamoille Valley in a health emergency.

Medicine Distribution Sites Wanted

During certain public health emergencies, the Morrisville Local Health Office will set up a site for distributing medications. The site, called a “point of distribution” or POD site, helps the Health Department get medicine to people who need it as quickly as possible.

Are you a large local business or organization interested in becoming a distribution site? Contact our office at 802-289-0600.

Medical Reserve Corps

The Upper Valley Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a community-based program of volunteers who donate their time and expertise to promote healthy living throughout the year and to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Volunteers set up and staff first aid stations at events, provide first aid and help community members prepare for emergencies.

MRC volunteers strengthen our community’s health and resiliency in the face of an emergency. You do not need to be in the medical field to volunteer.
