F 47 15.7 14.2 13.3 0.8 was uniquely coded.
* Cause of death is coded by the International Classification of Diseases, Adapted (ICDA). Deaths in 1952-1957
were coded according to the 6th ICDA revision (ICDA-6), 1958-67 deaths according to ICDA-7, 1968-78 deaths
according to ICDA-8 and 1979 to the present according to ICD-9.
Although there is little difference between ICDA-6 and ICDA-7, significant changes were made in ICDA-8 and ICD-9.
Therefore code numbers for ICDA-7,ICDA-8 and ICD-9 are given in addition to comparability ratios which have been
applied to earlier rates to make them comparable to the ICD-9 rates. (Ratios from "Monthly Vital Statistics
Report", Volume 17, #8 Supplement, October 25, 1968, and Volume 28, #11 Supplement, February 29, 1980;
DHEW, NCHS, Washington, D.C.)
** In ICD-8, Alzheimer's Disease was included in code 290.1 along with a variety of disorders associated with
presenile dementia.
