Note that mid-year population estimates are revised after each census is taken, so the 1991-1999 population figures and rates in this table differ from those presented in older publications.

4. Number of pregnancies includes Live Births and Fetal Deaths for 1857-1972, and Live Births, Fetal Deaths, and Abortions for 1973 - present.

7. Data for these years is based on occurence returns only.
8. 1857 population is the 1860 census population.
9. 1857 was the first year that town clerks were required to report vital events to the Secretary of State and returns for that year are incomplete.
10. The number of pregnancies was incorrectly typed in the 2000 Vital Statistics Annual Report. The 2000 abortion ratio was corrected after the discovery of 39 duplicate records in the 2000 file.
