Addressing Racial Bias in AI for Equitable Substance Use Recovery
The highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in the United States in a year's time was reported between March 2021 and March 2022. Access to substance use treatment is limited, particularly in rural and predominantly black communities. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been proposed as a potential solution. It can analyze vast amounts of data, create personalized treatment plans, and detect early signs of relapse. However, there are concerns about the use of AI in healthcare due to biases in AI healthcare data, which could perpetuate existing inequality in substance use treatment. This webinar explores the integration of AI in substance treatment and recovery and its impact on racial disparities.
