Report Card Toolkit for Vermont Hospitals

Hospital Report Card

Act 53 of 2003 (18 V.S.A. § 9405b), followed by S.255 in 2016, requires that the Health Department publish an annual statewide comparative report (Hospital Report Card) reflecting the hospital’s performance in relation to quality, patient safety, hospital-acquired infections, nurse staffing, and pricing and measures of financial health. Hospitals in Vermont also must post required information related to the health needs of the communities they serve.

The Reporting Manual is provided to assist hospitals in meeting their Act 53 requirements.

Important Note: For 2016, hospitals have the option of following the May 2016 Reporting Manual, which reflects changes in the law, or the March 2016 Manual with the related templates.
