Gambling Disorder: Relationship to Suicide and Resources for Help
The New England ATTC, in partnership with the Rhode Island Council on Problem Gambling, is hosting this targeted TA session with subject matter expert Kristen Beall. LCSW-C, ICGC-I, CAC-AD. The session discusses Gambling Disorder, which is established by the American Psychological Association as a Substance-Related and Addictive Disorder with the highest rate of suicidal ideation and attempts by those who meet severe criteria.
The financial devastation and other harms stemming from problematic gambling, and the impact on others, is often overlooked and underrecognized. Having conversations with persons in our community about gambling is fundamental to saving lives and reducing additional harm.
