Integrating Mindfulness to Address Trauma in Addiction Treatment
The New England ATTC, in partnership with the The Connecticut Department of Corrections, is hosting a targeted in-person TA session, entitled "Integrating Mindfulness to Address Trauma in Addiction Treatment," with subject matter experts Chris Dorval, Dan Seliger, and Tim Laprede of Ragnar Health on September 17, 2025 from 8:30AM-2:30PM EST.
Significant evidence point to the connection between addiction and trauma, and the evidence is clear: clinicians must be able to provide care to address both. Emerging research into the neurobiological aspects of trauma has found that trauma disrupts neural networks inhibiting traumatic experiences from being processed through most traditional treatment interventions.
Mindfulness has been shown to be effective as a treatment intervention working with both addiction and trauma. This interactive and experiential presentation will offer an understanding of the neurobiology of trauma and mindfulness and how mindfulness interventions can effectively work to address deficits caused by trauma. It will also offer guidance and skills to integrate mindfulness into traditional treatment modalities to ensure the best treatment outcomes.
