Empowering Addiction Service Providers: Best Practices for HIV, HCV, and HBV Screening, Prevention, and Linkage to Care
This training is designed for addiction counselors, educators, and healthcare professionals who care for individuals at risk for or living with hepatitis C (HCV) and/or hepatitis B (HBV). This session will explore the natural history, transmission, and epidemiology of viral hepatitis, with a focus on populations disproportionately affected, including people who use drugs and immigrant communities. Participants will review current screening guidelines, learn to interpret test results, and develop strategies for patient education, treatment support, and linkage to care. Practical tools to support adherence, address barriers, and connect patients to assistance programs will be shared. Attendees will leave equipped to help patients understand the benefits of treatment, achieve a cure or functional cure, and reduce the risk of reinfection through harm reduction and prevention strategies.
For trainings that indicate Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available, contact your licensing or certification organization to verify that the credits will count toward the continuing education requirements.
