Prevention 101 for Non-Prevention Professionals

Have you been invited to join a prevention coalition but aren’t quite sure what “prevention” really means? Are you a policymaker, medical professional, law enforcement officer, or community member who wants to help but doesn’t know where to start?

This 90-minute webinar is designed specifically for non-prevention professionals who care deeply about their communities but may not yet understand the unique role prevention plays alongside treatment and recovery. Participants will walk away with a clear, accessible understanding of what substance use prevention is—and how their voice, experience, and leadership can help communities thrive.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the importance of prevention and how it complements treatment and recovery
  • Recognize why their perspectives, roles, and voices matter in prevention work
  • Deliver a short “elevator speech” to explain prevention to others in their community
