360 SAFETY: Field and Office Safety with De-escalation Strategies
Aggression is anger in action. Many health and human services consumers become aggressive with caseworkers, often as a result of vulnerability, fear, or frustration. Regardless of the cause, consumer aggression can put the safety of caseworkers at risk.
The 360 SAFETY series by Presidential Consultants empowers organizations to build constructive relationships with consumers while ensuring the physical and environmental safety of social workers. In this training, participants will gain practical strategies to maintain personal safety in both field and office environments, while also learning verbal de-escalation techniques to defuse potentially dangerous situations.
The session focuses on vigilance, risk assessment, and safety practices that can be applied during home visits, in-office meetings, while traveling to and from appointments, and when navigating neighborhoods. By combining these skills with goal-centric teamwork approaches, participants will be able to create emotionally secure environments for consumers—transforming aggression into constructive engagement and progress toward case plan completion.
