A Fresh Look at the Strategic Prevention Framework: Community-Centered Prevention in Action Session 4: Implementation that Resonates

Instead of viewing the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) as a step-by-step prevention planning model, reimagine it as an ecosystem—one that’s adaptive and constantly evolving with the needs and culture of the community. Through this frame, the SPF is not simply a process to follow, but one that both creates and responds to a dynamic web of relationships, environments, histories, and possibilities. Each step of the SPF—Assessment, Capacity Building, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation—functions interdependently nourishing one another, responding to changing community conditions, and requiring ongoing attention. When we treat prevention as part of the broader ecosystem of community wellness, we shift our focus from managing problems to cultivating resilience, connection, and belonging.

This six-part webinar series invites prevention practitioners and partners to explore the SPF through this lens, focusing in on key skills in each step and grounding our discussion in real-life contexts. Be inspired by the potential of what we can grow together!

Session 4: Implementation that Resonates

Implementation is where prevention becomes visible and recognizable within our community. This session explores how to bring strategies to life in ways that feel natural, resonant, and rooted in the daily experiences of community members. Whether it’s through youth-led campaigns, peer mentorship, or trusted community touchpoints, we’ll look at how to embed prevention into the everyday environments to support widespread shifts in culture that elevate wellness and belonging as the new norm. When implementation respects the ecosystem, our strategies become more than just isolated programs or practices—they become integral to community life.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the SPF process as one that cultivates a dynamic and interdependent web of community relationships and adapts to changing community environments
