The first webinar of this learning collaborative will explore the power of environmental scan data in shaping a compelling substance use prevention narrative. This webinar will explore the importance of messaging to prevention and the value of storytelling in creating effective messages. It will review the types of data collected in environmental scans and learn how to leverage each to strengthen their story. The webinar will also explain the key steps to crafting a compelling prevention story: 1) Determining your goals, 2) Identifying your audience, and 3) Developing the message. Following this, it will discuss the types of narratives that can emerge from environmental scans and describe how to select the right story for your audience and goals.
WEBINAR 2: How to Create and Share an Effective Prevention Story
The second webinar in this learning collaborative offers practical recommendations for telling a compelling prevention story using environmental scan data. Participants will discover several frameworks and structures that can be used to develop an effective prevention story. The webinar will review storytelling techniques for weaving together hard data, contextual data, and real-world stories into your narrative. It will also explore avenues for sharing your story, from traditional reports and presentations to social media, infographics, and community forums. Lastly, it will introduce resources that can support your storytelling efforts, including tools for developing your story’s visual design.
