Re-defining Resilience: Navigating Relapse Prevention

Relapses are a characteristic of the recovery process. Integrating relapse prevention planning with individuals with substance use disorders as a part of treatment provides opportunities to identify steps to address the early warning signs and triggers. This will help to reduce the risks of relapse and, ultimately, build self-efficacy. This presentation aims to redefine the resiliency of navigating recovery by implementing a holistic relapse prevention plan tailored to the individual's healing journey. The presenter will provide information to help participants understand relapse and why it occurs. This presentation will also address the best practice tools and activities that individuals can implement as relapse prevention strategies. The participants will learn about the collaboration process between the client and practitioner when creating effective relapse prevention plans with individuals specific to their triggers, challenges, and strengths. Participants will also learn how the support system network is critical to relapse prevention planning.
