Syndemic Solutions: Community-Based Syndemic Approaches in Action

This session is part of NAHEWD's national webinar series Bridging HIV and SUD: Innovations in the Field. The series will highlight various innovative models and approaches to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV. A local FQHC’s approach to addressing the syndemic - a group of related epidemics - of HIV, HCV, reproductive health, sexual health (STIs), and mental health (including SUD). Solutions include accessible testing, outreach, PrEP support, and harm reduction programming. 

1. Outline syndemic approaches of a holistic provision of interventions and services, while moving upstream to create change. 

2. Address interconnected health and social factors driving disease and health outcomes.
